You Thought It Wouldn't Happen

but it has!

The etsy shop has been updated!

And I took stuff out of it and kept it for myself! Yaaaaa- what? What do you mean that isn't the point of getting rid of your stuff? Sure it is! See, here's why: the point is not to have things for the sake of having them, or counting them, or measuring yourself against them. Unless it is a tape measure, and then yes the point would be to measure yourself. Anyway. The point is to have them and enjoy them, use them, not let them take over your life, and to let you feel smug when you decide on a whim to do something and realize you have all the materials on hand.

It's like that old saying: If you love something, sell it on Etsy. If it comes back to you, either you did a shitty job making it and now it's broken, or it was meant to be. Either one.

I missed you, paper collection. I will go through it more carefully, and maybe get rid of some of the stuff I won't ever use, but it will be a giveaway here and that will be that. Till then, my paper and i need to be alone right now. We have things to do.

I'm Trying, Really I Am

I added a few more things to the Etsy store. Nothing overly exciting, just a few books. But still, I did it. I hate so very much the process of going through this stuff. It is so not fun it's unreal.

But hey, I am doing it. And I decided that I will try to list at least three things a week till it's all up there. And Wednesday is Etsy day, so you may want to skip out on Wednesday updates for a while. Ha! I am also thinking that maybe perhaps I will run a little special or something every month to try to get some of this shit out of here- 25% off books for the month of September or something. I guess I have to get them all in the shop first.

Truant Bunny

I bought this bunny pic a while back. It has been on my Etsy favorites list for over a year, and I finally bought it a few weeks ago.

Here it is in its little frame, hanging up in my dining room. I giggle every time I walk past it. I just love that bunny.

I bought it *here* from blueberrybandit. She was helpful and friendly and all around awesome. I think that I am gonna scoop up some of *these*. Those little sperms are too funny.

Happy Friday! I am off to hide under covers and watch Netflix movies with my animals all day long. I love stormy days. Sigh.

Whole Lotta Paper

At long last!
My Etsy shop has finally been updated, and this time I added all those millions and millions of random and pretty awesome bits of paper. There are five lots, and you can have a peek at them right here. This post is now littered with pics of a few of the lots that are for sale.

I am feeling like I will be sticking with the selling things in lots approach. That way I can just get rid of stuff. It's tedious to list things like supplies otherwise- I mean when you are selling beads and cabs and such for half of what you pay for them and hoping someone is willing to take them off your hands, well who wants to be in front of the computer for hours on end listing things? Not me, especially when I still need to be spending time weeding through things. I think that at this point I still have a few more books to list, some tools, one lot of random odd things, and then it's down to beads. I have been dreading the beads.

The Spoils of Internet Fasting

Okay so I know that picture does not look very interesting to you.

But. BUT! Guess what is in those giant envelopes. Just guess! You'll never guess, so I will tell you- there inside those bubble mailers is roughly 7 pounds or so, give or take, of paper.

All kinds of paper.

There are Chinese papers, pages from books written in foreign languages, hand made papers, old pictures, religious ephemera, National Geographic pictures, labels, image transfers, transparencies, blank jigsaw puzzles, game boards, postcards, ads, snippets of random things, you name it. It's all there, and it's going up in my ETSY shop. I am hoping that someone wants to buy nice cheapo packs of really awesome stuff for collages, mixed media stuff, ACEOs, ATCs and random altered art fun. I am hoping to get it listed tonight.

I hope for beads and some random tools and MORE BOOKS to be listed soon.

Felted Soaps: An Adorable Secret Weapon in the War on Germs

Okay, so I decided that in the spirit of making this blog slightly more than marginally interesting to look at once in a while when the odd picture of an unfinished Knitted Thing shows up, I would start doing a semi-regular and rather attractive compilation of lovely things I come across on the magical thing that is ETSY. It is the least I could do while spending hours and hours playing on the net at work.

So today I made a fantastic discovery. Literally life changing. Perhaps you have seen these, but I most certainly have NOT.

FELTED FREAKING SOAPS!!!!

Okay so here's how these little beauties work: it's soap (duh) but it's wrapped in wool and then hand felted so you use it like soap wrapped in a scrubby washcloth! And apparently the soap and the wool shrink together so your ingenious little funk fighter is usable all the way to the bitter end. All I know is that I am gonna start buying these up and saving them for christmas presents and cheer myself up presents and birthday presents and thank you gifts and cheer others up presents, bat mitsvah presents (one can never tell when they will befriend some little Jewish girls), sorry I forgot to feed your fish while you were in Europe present, Happy Bastille Day present and the various and assorted lame-o occasions where you need a present to give to someone who may or may not smell bad.

Here are some of my faves, and the shops in which they dwell:
Cucumber, Lemon and Aloe from Amelia Makes Art

Never in my life have I wanted to hug or squealed at the sight of soap. Frankly, if I had before seeing the uber cute soaps in PoofNoggin's Shop I would commit myself, or at least re-examine my hygeine habits.

And finally one that seems to be really functional and good smelling, and gawd do I adore the smell of green tea, alpaca felted soaps from RainMAMA's shop

mmmmmmm, soap.

Well, I have finally gotten to the uber un-fun task of listing things on Etsy again. You can find my etsy shop HERE and I would really like to see some of this stuff moving out the door. Guess I gotta list it first, huh? Anyway, I put up five books, and I am gonna list more tomorrow. Then a few more on Friday, and then it's off to Knoxville!

Well that's all I have to report. I have a piece of baklava calling my name, as well as MORE laundry and some cleaning of bathrooms. Have a lovely evening.

When the Going Gets Tough

the tough go window shopping on Etsy.

I am so bored at work today. I have very little to do, and although I should be doing it, I just don't want to. Recent (and hopefully temporary) changes at work have morale somewhere down around none whatsoever for me. So, on a beautiful and hot summer day I would rather be either at the pool in my new swimmy suit, or hiding in the AC under a pile of wool. Anyway, when I feel like I hate everything and want to projectile vomit on someone, I just go to The Magic That Is Etsy and just window shopping cheers me right up. Anyway, I have always been a fan of all things handmade (except for cozies for things- I think that is strange, oh and doilies too) I obviously spend a lot of time looking at the handspun, hand dyed, beautiful yarn. Cue the cheesy 70's porn music please!

That beautiful pic is from jocelyngermany's shop and her beautiful hand painted recycled yarn. Good for her! I just think her yarn is beautiful and I love that it was once an ugly sweater that has been upcycled. I want!

::in best Homer Simpson voice::MMMM. Yaaaaaaaarn. From WildFireFibres' Shop.

And finally, some handspun yarn, because it is soft, squishy, irregular, and beautiful and I love love love it. This seller, HandSpunandDyedToo, is one of my faves and I adore her yarn. I can't wait to get some of it. It's beautiful and whatever I make I am sure I will be the only one that deserves it. Yum.

I feel better now.
